Manoj Mistry

Born in Leicestershire, England I graduated from the University of Northumbria with a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design.  Completing successful internships at the renowned design consultancy Fitch inc. at locations in Boston and London I went onto pursue my career in the United States.

Landing my first job with Designedge a boutique design & engineering firm in the heart of Austin, Texas.  During my 8 years I became a seasoned senior designer & project manager working on programs as varied as a re-usable toothbrush, notebook computers and an off-shore oil drillers console.  My experience continues with a brief spell at Insight Product development in Raleigh, N.Carolina where I undertook more responsibility as a Design Manager helping to lead the small design group.  Eventually I made the move out west to Santa Cruz, California where I worked at Plantronics; the industry leader in office communication audio equipment & consumer electronics.  As a senior designer I took on immense responsibilities like leading programs from user research to concept to final production.

My creative approach is to always have the user in mind front & center.  All initiatives begin and end with the user.  From research to human factors my solutions focus on what problems we are trying to solve for the customer.  Aesthetics are equally important & my extensive education in the arts have given me an innate sense of proportion as well as a keen eye for details.

For me success and satisfaction does not come from industry recognition or a large body of work but instead from the humbling of seeing the customer experiencing and enjoying the product as the design team had intended.

When I'm not designing I keep myself active with my passion for playing competitive soccer and tinkering with my project track racing car.  The future is unknown and I'm always open to exciting new opportunities so please don't be a stranger!
